Native Gardening

Melissa Fabel is a Master Gardener volunteer with Cornell Cooperative Extension, Westchester County. She has a certificate in Sustainable Gardening with Northeast Flora from the Native Plant Center in Westchester County and a certificate in Field Botany from the New York Botanical Gardens. She is a part-time landscaper and an adjunct professor at Westchester Community College where she teaches courses for Go Native U, an educational program of the Native Plant Center.

Trying to attract the elusive hummingbird? Save the fragile monarch? Nurture migrating birds along their long journey home?  Or just enjoy the ever-changing palette of a seasonal perennial bed? Gracefully Done's Melissa Fabel, has some advice. "Go Native!”
 
Passionate about native plants, Melissa enjoys working with you – as much or as little as you want – to create your own native gardens to sustain the natural beauty and health of our area and its wildlife.
 
Tailoring her expertise to your specific needs, Melissa provides anything from a one-time site analysis report to ongoing weekly “work sessions,” where she’ll work side by side with you to choose the appropriate plants for your site, demonstrate proper planting techniques, as well as pruning and seasonal maintenance. You decide how much help you want from beginning to beautiful!
